Parents often say the hardest part of supporting their children’s learning is not the willingness to help, but knowing what to help with. The updated Parent Portal is designed to answer that question. It now clearly sets out what children are learning across every year level from Year 0 to Year 10, covering the refreshed, knowledge-rich curriculum in a way that feels understandable rather than overwhelming. Instead of curriculum language that feels distant or technical, parents can now see a simple, honest picture of what sits behind the school day.

Education Minister Erica Stanford says the intention is clarity on both sides of the school gate. While the refreshed curriculum gives teachers sharper direction in the classroom, the Parent Portal brings that same clarity into the home. It acknowledges a simple truth: children do better when parents feel informed, confident and included in their learning journey, rather than guessing from the sidelines.

The most practical change is the addition of a free, online maths practice tool for children in Years 3 to 8, launching next week. Aligned directly with the curriculum, it focuses on core skills such as basic facts, fractions, place value, rounding, money, patterns, square numbers and word problems. More content will follow in January for children ready to stretch further. Alongside this, the portal will continue to add activities to help families reinforce learning over the summer break, when routines shift but curiosity does not. Together, these updates quietly reinforce a powerful message: supporting achievement is not about pressure or perfection, but about giving families the right tools, at the right time, to help children thrive.
